-for our authors-

We want to be very transparent about our publishing process, and what is available for our authors after their
manuscript is accepted. If you have any questions feel free to email us and we will do our best to answer them.

editing

After a story is accepted, the first step in the publication process is editing. Every manuscript undergoes at least two separate stages of editing: developmental and proofreading. Developmental editing is to smooth out structural problems such as plot holes, character motivation (or lack thereof), issues with consistency, timeline, and the overall story arc. The final rounds of editing are to polish and addresses issues like grammar, punctuation, style, voice, word-choice, and flow.

Keep in mind that, while we do provide edits, critiques, and suggestions, at the end of the day the story is yours, and we have no desire to change that. The final manuscript is under your control, and you always have final say over any editorial decision or suggestion. Editing is our way of helping your words have the most impact, and of helping your story achieve its full potential.

illustration and cover design

The next step is to work on cover design, as well as any art or illustrations you want within the book itself (chapter page art or maps after the title page, for instance.) It is the unfortunate truth that the first thing a reader sees (the cover) often determines whether or not they will give the story a chance. Which means that our cover design has to be professional, sleek, graphic, and eye-catching.

Just as with editing, we work with you to create a cover for your book that not only represents your story, world, and characters, but also is up to the standards of traditionally published books, and will engage the readers of your genre.

book design and layout

Once the story is polished, the text edited, and the cover designed, we send the manuscript to our layout team, who are dedicated to the highest level of professional book design. Their goal is to take the files on our computers and create a beautiful, finished novel that will meet and exceed the industry standards of publishing.

We will double and triple and quadruple check all of our work, and provide you multiple printed proofs and copies before going to print. We are passionate about creating as close to a perfect book as possible, and 'just good enough' is not in our vocabulary.

marketing and promotion

Because we are a small hybrid publisher, the author is just as much a part of the marketing and promotional aspect of publication as they are with every other level of the process. We will work alongside you to promote your book through an expansive marketing campaign using our website, blog, social media (instagram, twitter, youtube, and facebook), and promotional advertisement. This could include ad campaigns, interviews, merchandise, giveaways, fan art contests, book trailers (such as the one found here), and author signings or release parties.

We will help our authors distribute their book to a wide market, including Amazon, Walmart, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, iBooks, Nook as well as bookstores, libraries and other databases. Our ultimate goal is to help your book find readers who will connect to your words, characters and ideas in a meaningful way, and to help your book achieve the impact and reach that it deserves.
